| Mike Gwaltney |
|
Mike Gwaltney has been working with athletes as both a coach and personal trainer and instructor since 1986. He is currently the Head Cross Country Coach at Chaminade College Preparatory, and holds coaching marks at both Chaminade and Servite High School, where he led soccer teams to record seasons. Mike has twice been named “Coach of The Year” by the L.A. Times and L.A. Daily News, and has been an Orange County “Coach of the Year” and All-Star Game Coach. Mike is a TNT national certified coach, having received his training from six-time Ironman World Champion Dave Scott. Mike will complete U.S.A. Triathlon Level 1 Coaching Certification in June ‘05. Additionally, Mike holds coaching licenses from the United States Soccer Federation, National Federation of High Schools, and various others associations. Mike is also the Director of Training for the L.A. Triathlon Club.
Coach Mike’s athletic career corresponded with the beginning of the 1970s soccer boom in Southern California. From his elementary school years through his early twenties, Mike enjoyed numerous successes as a player, and while still playing in college, Mike began coaching and has since coached club and high school soccer, and worked in the Olympic Development Program.
Mike has been a runner for many years, races as a Cat 5 cyclist, and has been training for and racing triathlons since 2002. Mike became a TNT Tri coach in June ’04, working with the South Bay team and is now the Head Coach of the Conejo Valley squad.
Coach Mike trains many local triathletes as a personal coach/instructor and continues to work with young soccer players on their fitness and technique. Mike lives in Woodland Hills and his day job is Chair of the Social Studies Department at Chaminade College Preparatory, where he teaches History and Political Science. |

| Kennedy Minton |
|
It started in 2000, as a TNT Participant, then Kennedy naturally took the next step as a TEAM Mentor in ’01 and from then on, to currently, a TNT Triathlon Coach. Kennedy is by no means new to the sport, as she has been competing for the last (10) years, placing in the top 5% of her age group, if not winning her age group, in almost every triathlon ~ including numerous prestigious running races and National swimming competitions.
A few of her most memorable moments include 1st at Bonelli Sprint '98, '99, 1st at the Long Beach Triathlon '02, 3rd at Xterra Big Bear, CA '03, 1st place at Tough Topanga 10K '99, '00 and '01, 1st at Palos Verdes 1/2 Marathon '99 and 3rd in '01 and (3) Gold Medals at YMCA Swim Nationals '98, '99, '01 in freestyle and breastroke.
Kennedy's dedication to the sport of triathlon along with her extreme passion for fitness and health has flowed naturally into her daily life, as she has successfully established her career as a well-known personal outdoor trainer and coach in Los Angeles. |
