Subject: Overtraining or Too Much Sleep?
Question: I am in the unusual situation where one has all day to train. To keep this short, this is due to NAFTA. Anyway, one month ago, I increased my training from 8-9 hours a week to just under 20 hours a week. To help with recovery, I have increased my rest as well. I am used to getting 6-7 hours of sleep, but now I find myself getting 8-9 at night, and taking a 1-3 hour nap (in the afternoon) between workouts.
For the last three workouts, I've felt sluggish and weak, I become irritated quit easily, and my performance and duration has decreased. These are the only symptoms I have from the overtraining list; therefore, I was wondering if I've been getting too much sleep. One more thing: I am still in my base workout mode, and have not increase the intensity at all (but hope to real soon). So, do you think I have a slight case of overtraining, or do you think (somehow) too much sleep could be causing these symptoms?
Thanks,
Mark
