The corporate and entrepreneurial realms, especially in the IT industry, tend to be quite cutthroat. Countless hours are often spent investigating the viability of various methods, campaigns, and ideas, and it can be easy for even the most experienced teams to get lost in the weeds of their day-to-day responsibilities. Rarely is finding the balance between personal and professional life simple and straightforward; the past twelve months have been unusually challenging for most in many ways, and our team is certainly no exception. Several of us have gone through major life changes recently, both positive and negative, and we’ve all undergone substantial restructuring of our internal departments. However, plenty can be said about our collective ability to adapt to shifting circumstances while continuously supporting each other despite local and global uncertainty.
Honestly, start-up life isn’t for everyone, and it's often accompanied by extreme highs and unexpected lows. We’re a unique bunch, to say the least, but we all sincerely appreciate and exemplify the concept of “Work hard, play hard.” This year, we launched new services like Blog Writing and Social Media Management which incorporate strategies from multiple departments, and we’ve learned that we’re generally more creative, capable, and efficient together than on our own. Our team’s redundancy and interdependence work in tandem to reliably deliver our clients consistent, quality service and communication.
Candor, compassion, cultivation, and collaboration are some of our most important core company values here at True North, and we’re determined to include and empathize with each and every one of our teammates. We hold regular all-company Galactic Nucleus meetings in which we openly share our individual wins alongside those of the business. These frequent gatherings serve as an opportunity to gain insight into the lives and goals of our fellow teammates—we continue to grow closer as a result.
We celebrate each other’s successes, both in and outside the office. Together, we each push ourselves to expand our horizons, abilities, and comfort zones. For instance, all of us joined the 2021 Lincoln Parks and Recreation Summer Coed Softball League. Uniforms were made, games are being played, and laughs will be shared for years to come. While we won’t be winning tournaments any time soon, we show up every week to give it our all, nonetheless! The incredible value of cooperatively pursuing many goals cannot be overstated.

Our team also had an absolute blast conquering the Mud Factor Seriously Fun 5K Obstacle Run in Omaha over the past weekend! We struggled over slippery barriers and through sloppy trenches, cheering each other on every squishy step of the way. Renee herself led the pack—how many CEOs do you know that are eager to play in the mud on a Sunday?
We even commemorated one of our first employees, Alex James, as he transitioned away from our company. The team spent an amazing Friday afternoon at Craft Axe Throwing, where we let loose our wild sides with beaming smiles. We tossed axes, snapped photos, and shared our favorite memories of True North Technologies’ tremendous expansion. Though Alex will be deeply missed, we will forever champion his inspiring progress, and are extremely proud to have had him on our team!
We’re definitely not your average group of employees, and we like it that way! Through thick and thin, we’ve got each other’s backs, and we aim to nurture and celebrate the growth of not only our current, but past team members, too. Nobody makes it on their own, after all. The sky is truly the limit for our small band of determined young professionals—join us as we continue to reach for the stars!
